Can I go on holiday in Greece? Latest travel advice for Kos, Crete, Mykonos and more

Holidays to Greece will go ahead this summer, after it was included in the list of countries where Brits will not need to quarantine when returning back to England.

Current advice from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office advises against all but essential travel, although Greece is now exempt from this, as are other popular holiday destinations such as France, Spain, Italy and Germany.

However, this is not a reciprocal agreement, and Greece has currently banned all UK flights until at least 15 July.

The country opened its borders to most European countries from 1 July, but due to the high level of coronavirus in the UK and Sweden they are both excluded for now.

From 15 July British tourists will be able to enter Greece, but you must comply with Greek authorities’ entry requirements.

What are the rules and requirements on arrival?

There are a number of travel requirements for those travelling to Greece.

Visitors will need to complete a Passenger Locator Form at least 48 hours before travel.

They may also be required to take a coronavirus test on arrival and undergo a period of self-isolation while awaiting test results.

If your test result is negative you will no longer need to isolate, but if it comes back positive you will need to isolate in government-provided accommodation for 14 days.

Those travelling to Greece must wear a face mask at all times when travelling to or from the country, and while at the airport.
