Jet2 announces new winter holiday cancellations with trips to Iceland axed

Jet2 has announced more cancellations because of coronavirus restrictions with popular trips to Iceland axed for the rest of 2020.

The tour operator has confirmed that departures up to November 19, have been axed – despite the country being exempt from the UK government imposed 14-day quarantine policy.

Trips are not expected to resume until the new year.

Jet2 operates winter city breaks and special Northern Lights trips to Iceland from a host of UK airports, including Birmingham, East Midlands, Manchester and Newcastle.

Iceland is not covered by the UK ban against all-but-essential travel and is included on the Department of Transport list of destinations where passengers do not have to quarantine on return to the UK.

Visitors to Iceland must pay for a coronavirus test of arrival in the country or self-isolate for 14 days.

Jet2 expects to resume flights to the country during February.

In a communication to travel agents, Jet2holidays stated: “Jet2CityBreaks has taken the decision to extend the suspension of our flights and holidays programme to Iceland due to the continued Covid-19 pandemic.

“We still have plenty of holidays available to Iceland in Spring 2021 for your customers to rebook.”
